HERE I STAND

Here I stand with my guitar in hand
How I got here’s a blur and my future’s unplanned
I’m happy to be here don’t do things I don’t like
Because I have been told there’s just one chance at life
So I’ll keep moving forward for I have no choice
This world which we live in spins like a hills hoist
Constantly moving in light of the sun
Just like goon-o-fortune it’s here to have fun
And if we’re not having fun then we’re having no fun
And not having fun is no good no one
And no one likes no good things
No good things no good brings
Everybody deserves to be happy as kings
I’ve seen what can happen when stuck in a rut
It’s so easy to fall but so hard to get out
And I know how it feels to be trapped in a box
With so many doors but all of the shut
It’s easy to get stuck in routines of working
Cos money’s addictive and oh so controlling
And comfort is comfortable fitting lifestyle
Turn on the TV, sit back and smile
Like a good little boy do not talk back
Cos grown ups ave business you don’t understand
Eat all your veggies or get no dessert
And if there’s no dessert then what’s life really worth
And if you’re not having fun then you’re having no fun
And having no fun is no good for no one
Some are happy with boredom and content with comfort
That’s fine by me, I’m not one to judge that
And I too like comfort and boredoms ok
If I’ve got a guitar in my hands which to play
I can sit back and twiddle let my fingers fiddle
With fingers on frets I can make little jingles
Like this one right now that just seems to go on
It’s got a beat and a tune but it’s not a real song
It’s got one long verse and it’s got lots of words
About lots of things cos I like to observe
People and their face as they communicate
When they’re talking to strangers from different places
Some people are happy some people are sad
Some people are sane some people are mad
Some people are violent but most of us peaceful
People are people but no one is normal
Some people don’t know how they feel inside
They find it so hard to shut their sore eyes
They stay up at night think what they’d rather be doing
But it’s so hard to escape this life which you are in
And I have been told it’s because I’m young
Life’s actually hard it’s not meant to be fun
But if you’re not having fun then you’re having no fun
And not having fun is no good for no one
But I’m doing my best to do what I want
And all I want now is to figure that out
And everyone’s different everyone’s unique
Everybody is after different things
Some people chase money
Some people chase nothing
Some people chase dreams
Some people chase love
Some people chase god
Some people themselves
But all human being all race towards wealth
And it’s different for me then what wealth is for you
I try not to judge but it’s hard not to do
When I see a black suit and a shiny Ferrari
I can’t help but think that they have to much money
And maybe they should give some of it to me
Cos I’m really nice and really deserving
Or if not to me then to a poor person
Who lives on the streets with their few possessions
And lessons get learned then they get forgotten
Old floorboards all get re-trod on
Mistakes are made again and again
It’s so sad to leave but it’s sadder to stay
And I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again
Everybody’s different that’s why we’re the same
And time moves slowly
But adds up so quickly
